Myanmar Global Investment Forum was held in Nay Pyi Taw on 15-16 September 2015 attended by government officials, over 800 local business people and foreign experts. Some of the Management team of AYA Bank also actively participated in this Forum and proudly supported as lead sponsor.
At the Forum, Myanmar Investment Commission Chairman, Union Minister U Zay Yar Aung gave an opening speech and called for more foreign direct investment into labour intensive industries, infrastructural construction projects, factories, plantations and industrial zones in order to create more job opportunities in the country. At the panel discussion, Prof. Dr. Aung Tun Thet also highlighted to Myanmar’s advantages and the goal of Myanmar. Then, he also enforced the invitation to the foreign direct investment.
On the first day of the forum, discussed about “Myanmar in Transition” focused on the upcoming general elections and the future political landscape. And, during Penal Session, the panelist discussed on the topic of “Developing Myanmar’s Financial Sector” focused on monetary policy and exchange rate volatility; banking sector modernization and consolidation; the role of foreign banks; financing private sector growth and development; microfinance and financial inclusion; the potential of Myanmar’s insurance market; and developing a bond market.
On 16th September 2015 (Wednesday), discussed about “The Outlook for Foreign Direct Investment” emphasize on the Foreign Investment Law. After the morning session: the following titles was discussed one after another: “The Potential of Myanmar’s Tourism Sector”, “Real Estate and Construction”, “Trade, Infrastructure and Greater Mekong Sub Region Connectivity” and “Energy and Power Development”. During the 2 days Forum, Bangkok Bank also held a workshop “Understanding Myanmar Consumers”, and Siam Commercial Bank held “Doing Successful Business in Myanmar” workshop.
