International Women’s Day 2024: How We Embrace Gender Equality in the Workplace and Community

Posted on March 08, 2024

To commemorate International Women's Day 2024 on March 8th, AYA Bank initiated celebrations by distributing special IWD gifts to our female employees. We chose purple hair ties as the token, a nod to the official IWD color, symbolizing strength, power, loyalty, justice, and dignity.

Our dedication to making a positive impact extends beyond our organization, intertwining with our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts to bring happiness and empowerment to our wider community. We proudly donated MMK five million to the ‘Women’s Development Center’ in Kamayut, Yangon, a beacon of hope for women facing societal challenges for over half a century. The center provides crucial support, including literacy and vocational training, to women, ensuring their integration and success in society. We are hopeful that our contribution will significantly elevate the lives of these women.

International Women's Day is observed with various activities and initiatives aimed at fostering gender equality for a sustainable future. A key event was the panel discussion held at Rowe Head Office in Yangon, focusing on "Invest in women: Accelerate progress." The conversation highlighted the critical need for women's inclusivity and representation across all societal sectors. The panel featured a balanced mix of male and female leaders from AYA Bank across various fields, emphasizing the importance of balance and harmony. We extend our gratitude to our motivational speakers for facilitating a meaningful and impactful dialogue. Special thanks go to our Executive Chairman, Daw Khin Saw Oo, for her opening remarks, and to our esteemed panelists: Daw Jasmine Thazin Aung, Deputy CEO; Daw Lwin Lwin Aung, Chief Financial Officer; U Paul Nyan Myint Soe, Director, Head of People Department; and Daw Khine Swe Thaw, General Manager, People Department, for sharing their valuable experiences and perspectives, and to our moderator, U Thurein Htut, Manager, Marketing Department.

At AYA Bank, we are devoted to cultivating a workplace that thrives on diversity and inclusion, which, in turn, enhances our strength, adaptability, and understanding. This International Women's Day, forge us ahead on the journey toward ‘Gender Equality’ and ‘Inclusive Growth’.
